My first ride was expensive.

I went out for my first ride of the year on a local lake to test out the sled. Screwed around for about a half hour and on my way back (going balls out) the track shredded, sent a stud through the rear heat exchanger, knocked the rear flap half off and broke the taillight lens.

The front shock in the rear skid broke at the mount, when this happened it must have loosened the track up way too much.
This is even more frustrating because it's my fault. When I bought the sled the shock was broken (the w-arm was broken and had been ridden on, which broke the shock and snapped the bolts in the piece that the limiter straps connect to) So my Dad welded and reinforced the W-arm and convinced me that he could weld the shock up too. He's an experienced welder but it's obviously not a good idea to weld a shock.
Anyway, I was too pissed to work on it yesterday evening and was busy all day today but I'm hoping nothing else is broken.
So if anyone has any of these parts let me know, I'm hoping to get it all back together soon. Thanks, and I'll try to post some pics.

it's a 98 srx 600, I'd be all about upgrading the skid if it weren't two weeks before christmas. I'm still looking around for an inexpensive one or a good deal on some viper shocks but then again so is everyone else w/ the pro-action.

The week after christmas i'm going to be replacing the skid in my SRX with a viper one. If you can wait that long, we can work something out.

Yeah Jigg, let me know when you do it, I'm hoping I have the parts by then but I'm not optimistic.

Sleduluth, sorry to hear about the mishap!! What lake were you out on?? How much ice is out there?

Thanks Riverrunner, I was out on fish lake. I had a buddy that was setting up his fish house, there was at least 6" where he was and the rest of the lake seemed just as solid.

what happened with the shock is after he welded it he either quenched it(cool in water or oil) and it made it brittle or he just used too much heat and even a air cool cause it to become brittle. if he welded it in a few passs it prolly wouldnt have happened.
