Quick question on marginal wheel kit
I am just about to drill the holes for my marginal wheel kit at the front rail, and I did a quick search on here but couldn't find what I was looking for. Is there an optimal location to locate the wheel kit. The direction say tight to the bump stop bracket but just checking what others might have found before drilling.

I really hate to bring this up so late for you but this is what I did with my skid to fix the wear up in the front of my hyfax. I did lots of high speed runs this past weekend on low snow conditions and it worked like a charm. Plus no added weight.

2000srx, I guess it is good that I have two SRX's and maybe I'll try this with my older 99 sled. And just put the wheel kit on the 2001. That is all great info.
What ever happened to this? Doesn't look like it's in the TECH section any more.2ooosrx said:I really hate to bring this up so late for you but this is what I did with my skid to fix the wear up in the front of my hyfax. I run two sets up front. I run one on the outside, tight to the bump stop bracket, and I run a set just ahead of that on the inside. Works great. Mind you, the only reason I am running the second set is because I don't run sliders. I also don't have a track with windows....or clips.
Yah, I was looking for the TECH page where 2oooSRX detailed the step for moving the first idler wheel forward to the next bolt (think it holds a bump stop or a cross brace). I'll PM him and see if he's still got it.
Thanks,
Bruce

guys, do not do this mod if you are trail riding your sled. this is a great article, very well done but will destroy parts when suspension bottoms out. In the article, the wheel is placed near center of the bump stop, they call it a bump stop because the upper fra shaft, with wheels on it, hits it durring a hard bump. The wheels will contact each other in opposite rotation to each other and destroy each other. Even if the upper wheels didnt exist, the shaft would bottom on the top of the wheel that was moved.
This also limits the travel of the front of the skid rail over 1in.
This is a grass drag mod from way back and will last a long time in that situation. This will not last on the trail.
