As per my other thread, my shock broke when I was out testing on the lake the other day; and keeping in mind that it's very possible that it broke before I even had a chance to make a top speed run, I was really dissapointed in the sled's performance.
The outside temps were close to 40, which I'm sure didn't help, but I was expecting it to really have more snap than it did. My future father in law has a (I think it's an 01) ski-doo mxz 600 and when I rode it last year I was blown away, the thing was silly fast... And I figured my triple would at least match it; but the SRX didn't even surprise me, (and my last sled was a 97 indy 440).
I know the SRX 600 has balls, I would just like to know where I should be when I get it right.
When I rode the mxz the temp was well below zero so I'm sure that helped skew my perception but I still think that the SRX would have been slower than the mxz was.
Anyway it's obvious in my comparison of the two sleds that everything was going against the SRX. If the suspension was slowing it down, once that's fixed; and it has some traction, and the outside temps are the same, maybe the SRX will wake up.
Sled specs.
1998 SRX 600 w/ ohlins fronts (2300 miles)
I Just tuned it up which included cleaning carbs, powervalves, replacing both jackshaft bearings and checking all idler bearings and adding new gas. (among other things that shouldn't have affected performance)
Compression 130+ on all 3 cylinders.
stock 45* helix w/ green secondary and g-w-g primary (not stock?)
Anyway getting to my real question, what should the top speed of a stock Srx 600 be/ what should the stock top speed of a properly set up Srx 600 be?
I maxed out at 100 mph indicated (which is probably only 92 mph actual?)
It was engaging around 4500 (if not before) and topping out at 8500.
I realize this was long and boring but input from other 600 owners about their top speeds would be appreciated. Once I get it fixed/set up what should I be shooting for as far as a top speed. Thanks guys, Wayne.

your about to get the smile back on your face!! my srx 600 could beat a lot of bigger ccm sleds and so can yours, if you do some small adjustments to it!
you have all the stock clutching in it, the cheapest way to go is to get a 51-43 helix and gear the sled down!!! and if you change the weight to 8bu 00 you will not belive the power it puts out, it over rev at 8500, better hit 8300 for max rpms..
thats what wake my sled up! i ran 21-40 gearing..
as for speed, stock i ran 195 kmh on speedo
after gearing it down and some cluthing i ran 185 on speedo, but had the holeshot and midrange was AWSOME from before, when it was so slow i got beat by a zrt 600...
the srx 600 is in my opinion geared way to high, and when if you do small tune ups like i did also you can beat stock mxz 800 and egde 800s as i did..
good luck
