Hi, can someone please help me out with this? My friend went to get his sled going last week and it wouldn't run. He drained the carb bowls by removing the screw and replacing it (it runs now) but now gas pours out of the "nipple" that's on the bottom of the one carb. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

A question right up my alley. I lost one of these screws on a ride a few years ago. Aparantly I did not tighten it enough. So one of the guy's in my group suggested tightening down the other to make sure I don't loose another.

Well if too much torque is applied to the screw it will break out the blind hold in the bottom of the float bowl and the nipple will leak/drain uncontrollably.

I ended up purchasing 2 complete yamaha float bowls from a salvage place. Cleaned them up and will never use that screw again.

Now if the nipple was not tapered a small diameter hose would be able to clamp on to it and then you can plug the hose. However since it's tapered that is a problem.

So basically his best bet is get a new or not broken yet bowl for the one that leaks. Since we are talking about a gas leak it is better to play it safe than try to rig up something on the cheap.

I just looked at the diagram for it on Yamaha's part site and I don't see a part number listed for it. When you had that happen did you check on getting one new from the dealer?

There is no part number for it. I had to get them from a salvage place. The Yamy dealer I drove the sled to in the Soo had a screw but the only way to get a bowl was with an entire carb. I found mine at a place in Holt. Ebay is an option as well.
