Can I switch oils??

synthetic advantages show up far down the road when the motor has a lot of miles and it's time to ring it. I've taken engines apart that run semi and full synthetic, and the synthetic motors are clean and carbon free and don't show evidence of areas where friction may have caused discoloration due to heat.

If you want full synthetic you should have went with Klotz. Its actually got better specs than Amsoil and it smells like race gas.

Ams is full syn..lol

klotz is too damn $$$,, $43 bucks a gal.(it's not that good) on there web site, plus it's too hard to get here..

Daman I think im going to get into the motor this weekend...I have the service manual so hopefully that helps me. I have never cleaned the carbs or anything and I dont know if the guy did before me either so I guess its a nice project because its over 40 degrees here and nearly hit 50 today.......

I never said Amsoil wasnt full syn. My brother used to use Amosil Interceptor and now he uses Klotz. He claims its cheaper than Amsoil.

An oil with organic base stock is never going to stack up to a full synthetic in terms of long term engine durability and wear characteristics. You can run whatever you want, i'm not selling either, but synthetic oils are FAR superior to conventional or "semi-synthetic" oils (which are really conventional oils with a few synthetic additives and detergents). Run what you want, but i tear into these things enough and see the differences, i'm not making a call based on a hundred stories of "someone i know who has 30,000 miles on it and has never touched it."
