Ok, fuel pump is primed and I'm running! I do want to thank everyone for your help. Now onto the next challenge.

Tonight was probably in the lower 40's. The motor fired right up and idled pretty ok with the choke on full then started to bog, so I flipped to 1/2 and then it idled great. I then flipped the choke off and the motor raced up to the 3000 rpm range. I thought my idle was supposed to be in the 1800 range. I had that at 1/2 choke.

Is my high idle with choke closed due to the temps? Could something be pinched/pulled. The choke seems to be working, throttle is working.... I didn't mess with the throttle cable (at least that I know of).

Idle should be around 1550 or so. That what it is on my 94 600 A lean condition would cause motor to race. Warmer air would make it run rich.

I don't like the sounds of it being lean....

I am running 98 reeds, jugs, etc, but have the same carbs I was running before when I was still piped. The 97-98 jugs supposedly flowed better and I think that the same thing with that reed cage. Am I getting too much air, not enough fuel?

maybe just try to adjust the idle. if it idles high after a run, usually fuel screw and or pilot circut could be looked at to go richer (lean condition).

but if it is just idling high, turn it down. dont create problems you may not have. sometimes the answer is easy and we cant see it. ski

I like easy. I'm still looking for that darn red easy button. I looked all over my basement when I started this rebuild and then again when I had no spark....

Of course, no snow so it could be a while till I get to try it after a ride.

The idle adjustment is just a cable adjustment right?

i'll have to take a look. I figure start at the airbox and go to the carbs. Maybe I don't have something tight or something. I am putting in new reeds and stoppers so I'll be in the area of it.

The idle is a white turn Knob on top of the carb rack..adjs. both at the
same time..

you only adj. cable for throttle end play(1-2mm), then idle..

Thanks Dan. It was sure good to hear her respond to the throttle. I'm sure my neighbors love me. It was only 8 but there are some small kids and I had the sled on the concrete drive.... The sound was just reverberating all over. Not to mention the cloud of smoke. Wow. My garage was so full you couldn't even see in and I started the sled outside....

Glad to hear it..it's been a long journey for ya that's for shure..LOL

keep an eye on the plugs till you get her dialed in,
make shure the oil pump is set good too .
