hey guys
i am having problems with my Electric Start for my 2001 phazer 500. i have checked bothj fuses and they are good. i have checked the battery and that is good. when i turns the key, there isn't a gig out of it. my guess is that the starter motor may be no good. can you help me find this out? i know that the battery is good because i have my LED underglow lights hooked up to it. help would be appreciated.
thanks and let me know how will i fix it!!

Well LED's do not take much power at all compared to the starter. Also make sure all the connections are good, a little corrosion can go a long way. It could be the key switch ( ignition switch ) can be tested with a multimeter tester.
That is a start.
Think snow!

I agree silversnow & also check the ground cable, a simple fix that is overlooked.
It is amazing what can happen just "sitting there".
Have had this happen with a car, truck & sled over the years.
Ya think it is the starter, battery etc & it turns out that the
ground "quit grounding".
If it just quit "out of the blue" I would bet that is where your problem lies.
Good luck.

It could also be the relay switch. It Takes the signal from the key and gives the starter the full power.

yup...it is the relay switch, i used a screw driver and put it on both of the bolts on the reply switch and it turned over the motor. i may need to get a new one of these!

Check that relay and make sure you are getting voltage through the key switch to the control side of the relay.

yes i am getting voltage from the relay switch. it grounded the 2 terminals on the switch and the motor started up. so i know that its the relay switch now that its not letting me start by the ignition.

The relay may not be the problem.
LoneViper is saying to check for voltage at the relay from the key switch. That would be a small terminal or wire on the relay, not the two large ones. There should be voltage there when the key is in the start position.
Looking at the wiring diagram in your owners manual will allow for following of the circuit.
