Presently I have heelclickers installed in my 98 SRX 700 but I've been considering going to the 8DN 20's and the related springs and helix for my sleds clutch setup for ease of availability.Springs I can get from any dealer as well as cams etc and I wouldn't have to screw with that stiff SOB of a spring(red) for the heelclickers. Will the 20's give me the same sort of pull as the clickers?

My setup as per Turks advice:
red spring
weights-heel is loaded(5gs I think)-mid hole empty-tip is ?(sorry cant find my notes)
50/38 cam
green spring @ 70*

the 20's with 4.5 in all holes, few engagement shims and a 51/43 helix green spring at 70 is a pretty darn stout set-up and excellentbang for the buck. I have heard the HC's may have a little more potential but are a major PITA to set up correctly and you have to run a shallow helix with the HC's not sure if the start or finish or both have to be shallow.

Heel clickers pull like a freight train. Not really that hard to set up either. Put it this way. You can take a stock srx and run the 8dn'20 or 8bu-00's and than put the heel clickers in the same sled and do nothing but change the weights, spring, and helix and the track will rachet. I would say the heel clickers are putting a bit more power to the ground.

Ever try running the 8dn20 with an ulitmax 2 belt....takes care of the over rev at the start thus don't have to get a different helix, spring etc. If you are underreving on the top lighten up the rivet in the toe. You also with the ultimax belt get the same rpms everytime..they don't drop as your belt gets hot like the yamaha belt does.

Correct me if I am wrong. But if you are overreving on top wouldn't you want to add a bit more weight to the tip of the weight to brng your r's down. The lighter the tip the more overrev you are going to get.

JUST WENT THROUGH ALL THIS. I AM A STOUT SUPPORTER OF THAT 8BU-00 SET-UP AND STILL HAVE IT IN MY 2002 SRX. BUT DID A HC SET-UP IN MY 2000 SRX. AFTER TALKING TO ALLAN, DON, TURK, AND NOSGUY (nelson) , I GOT TO TELL YA CLICKERS ARE AWSOME. NOW I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THEY WOULD WORK FOR EVERYDAY RIDING, BUT FOR RACING THEY BUT SOME POWER DOWN, E.T. LIKE A ROCKET, GRAB BELT AWSOME, AND ARE A TUNERS DELIGHT. I AM GONNA STAY WITH THEM FOR SHURE, AND YOUR CORRECT , YOU NEED THAT SMALL FINISH ON HELIX. I AM MAKING A SET-UP RIGHT NOW FOR MY VMAX 800. 3:16 (tony)

He said under-reving you'd want to lighten up the tip weight, thus bringing your rpms down. And putting that belt on may correct the over-rev off the line I believe is what he meant. Alot of people support the 8dn belt and thier reliability.

Good point Tony, for racing work great! I've found for everyday trail riding 8dn's work fantastic. 8bu's, hC, HH, ya all work better for drag racing, IF, you are grass dragging or Ice dragging, on snow for how many dollars do you pick up 1 length in 1000ft?

Yep, they didn't hit as hard on the bottom as the 8bu's and could get rpms where I wanted them to, honestly don't think I spent enough time one them. Think I needed a different helix....this was on the grass with stock pipes...tough to get 8100 rpm on the vmax with mine...think they were the 40-10.

My buddy runs them on his 750 with FIII cylinders and 800 psi with the internal silencers....it runs very hard. He has a strip to test on and has spent hours trying all sorts of weights and now is running HC, so yes they do work very well..I don't know his set up though
