Ok 2 smokers, I need help. My Vmax has a squeal that sounds like a belt, but is not. It sounds like it is from the left side. The noise is loudest at idle. Now for the weird part, when you are standing on it and lean left, it is loud, when you lean right it stops all together, and all of this happens when the sled is sitting still. What the hell is it?

I always thought that happend when you replaced the belt, and had to remove the washers from the bolts in the back of the secondary clutch until the belt is worn in..but not sure what else it could be..something may be out of alignment, check your center to center and your offset.

Check your motor mounts
What type of belt did you install?

Its your belt deflection. Your belt deflection is too tight.. Are you running an aftermarket belt like gates or something. There are 3 bolts on 1 side of the secondary clutch. Loosen them 1 at a time and remove a washer to put some more play iup by the primary. Your deflection is too tight causing your primary to barely rub the belt causing a squeal.

Could you explain this in more detail please. I used a OEM belt I had purchased for my RX1. I think all of you are right about the new belt. It threw me when it stops when I lean on the right side. I have about 3/8" play in and out play on the secondary. Are you talking about the Helix screws?

on the back of the secondary there are 3 bolts, each with a washer on them. Take the bolts out and remove the washers. If i remember right, the bolts are 10mm. This should stop your squelling noise. Once the belt is worn in, you'll need to put the washers back in.This allows the secondary to open up more whereas the new belt has more material compared to the old belt.

Now your going to have problems if this belt is not the same one your
sled calls for???
the 700's and rx-1's both use a 8dn. Just needs some washers removed. Maxdlx

yup as Daman said check the center to center and alignment first, then adjust with the deflection adjustment screws on the back of the secondary.
