I just went to pick up my 01 SRX 700 today from CPR performance after having them trail port, clutch, re gear, new hacksaw, digitron and set up carbs etc for the new porting specs and when we went to put it on the trailer we started it and it has a definite knock or ting to it that can be heard over the Hauck can ( ya I know the dont make power but they sure are a hell of a lot lighter). Jeff is being great about it and said he will look in to it and get back to me. My question is I dont remember if SRX`s had a slight knock when they were cold or not? I know some sleds knock until warm but I dont remember hearing it before. Any opinions?

Also any one running his clutch, trail porting, gearing setup? we geared down three on top (not to worried about the big end considering there is so much there anyway) and if so what are your experiences? thanks.

I think you might see it in fan cooled sled that have bigger tolerances for pistons??

got put together with undersized pistons by accident. problem is taken care of Jeff is a fair guy and great to deal with.

Did it mess up your cylinders from the excess piston slap?
Hmm interesting.. how big was the cylinder to piston clearance?.

it ran for 5 seconds and told I told him to shut it down, we talked and he said it aint leaving sounding like that, I agreed. cylinders lived, he is taking care of the rest. like I said its unfortunate that it got missed but he is a great guy to deal with and honest.

That and it went there to be ported, set up and came out with undersized pistons.... hmmm doesnt sound right, was it knocking when it went in?? if not, then how exactly did you get worn out pistons installed in your engine??

I had a ton of ?`s just like the ones that you are asking, I called and we disscussed it, really unfortunate and I have no diffinative answers except it did not sound like that when I dropped it off. In the end it is getting taken care of I started this post because like you guys it does not make sense. tolerances checked? started? etc, etc. I kind of knew what i heard just could not believe it. I don`t want this to turn into a bash post. I have done enough motor work myself, small blocks usually strokers that some times stuff gets missed, not always but it happens. It is how it is taken care of that matters and it is being made right. thanks for the input.

well, honestly to post something like this and not think its going to draw any criticism is kinda ludicrous dont ya think??? parts swapping(your good stuff for junk) happens and obviously did with your machine. I dont know, I wasnt there, just going off what you post!!
Glad your happy, thats all that matters, its your machine and your money your spending for the repair/performance work.

Don, You ready to put some 35.5 carbs on my sled in a few weeks? I had to get another cell phone cause it crapped out and I couldnt retrieve any numbers I had stored in it so dont have yer # anymore to call you when im on the road.
Chevelle67, Im glad they worked everything out for you. Its always best to settle between the parties before bringing out the bash bat.

Perfect reason that Im learning form this site and experience to do stuff myself because then if something goes wrong you dont have anyone to blame but yourself.
