I have a 2002 viper that will have a 780 bigbore in it, and light weight suspension and chassis parts. Looking at making it more of a off trail sled for the UP backcountry, and someday going out west with it. I would say 30%trails and 70% offtrail. Will ethier have a 136 warrior suspension or go with a yamaha, cat, ski doo, or polaris 144/141 suspenion. Was thinking of etheir a 136x15x1.75 or a 141/144x15x1.5 and run ice scratchers for trail riding. Was thinking more lug height, but still want to be able to run trails with it. What do you guys think?
P.S. The guy I will be riding with has a Crossfire 7.

141 is pretty much a bastard track, not many choices. if it were me all over again i would go 144". i love the 136 but sometimes those few extra paddles are needed.
on a side note if you run megapower heads on your BB kit i have a brand new never used set of high compression domes that could be toned down abit for running high or even altitude. then with a megapower viper set up you could have 2 set of domes one for high and low alt. just food for thought. ski

Hey thanks for the offer, but it will be a SRX 780 bigbore motor with custom pipes. but i will keep you in mind if I'm looking for mega power heads.
Ski: Did you do a 141 on the viper or another sled?
I'm just worried that tha 1.25" track won't be enough lug height. Do you think 1.5" is to much. Just do not want to buy one and then need the other.
What suspension should I look for? I'm thinking a polaris Switchback , or a Ski Doo with tiped up rails.

I rode with a guy in wyoming and there was about 5 ft of powder and he had a 144x1.25" and I had a 136x2" you have to remember there is more foot print on the snow with the 144 so it floats a little better.

If you plan on making a few tips out west every year go with a 1.5" but if you just go once a year the 1.25" is just fine.

Thanks for the input. If I go 1.25 should one stud it?

I think I would go for the 144" skid now after running the 136" for years, I ride with some Poo guys & the 144"x1.25 does well for them. Then again a good rider on a 121" can do what some cant do on a 144"

my o2. i think anything thats a 700 or above will make a Joke out of a 1.25 Track. If your going for a Mountain Ext 144, I would suggest a 1.5" or bigger.

Not really into rail extensions. It would be an actual 144 skid or maybe if I can't locate one it would maybe a 136 rail streched to 144.
Pro116: do you think with the 144 x 1.25" that it should be studed?
