What exactly is the suspension upgrade on Vipers?

Update shock kits are still available through Yamaha. As the bulletin has expired for the 03's, Yamaha will not reimburse for labor. It only takes an hour or so to swap out all 4.

The front shocks were WAY too soft and killed the handling.. the rears were a TON better, but nothing like the sleds out today..

THose vipers were bricks in stock form.. If i had to do over, i would have kept the stock front shocks and springs and just went with the updated rear ones..
 
i have the viper update shocks ( new in the box from yamaha ) on both my 800sxr & 835srx. the valving was waaayy too soft. pulled off the rears & took to bruce @ pioneer. he revalved them. huge difference. this made me realize how bad the fronts were. pulled them off & had bruce revalve the fronts. the difference is amazing.
