Alright I bought a brand new fuel pump from the dealer cause I goobered the bottom of my original with silicone. Well I'm anal when its comes to fueling parts on anything that I own. Well I noticed on my original, the bottom has a screen with a VERY VERY SMALL HOLE drill into the bottom where the rivet sits on the tunnel. Seems like it a ventilation hole for the fuel pump so it doesnt create suction inside. But correct me if I'm wrong. Well the one I bought from the dealer DOES NOT HAVE THAT SCREEN OR LITTLE HOLE, but its is the correct part I ordered and is the exact same thing as my original. Is it necessary for that hole to be there?????? Any help is much appreciated.

Thinking of taking a extemely small drill bit and drilling a hole then get a screen from faucet and cutting it a little bit larger than the hole that the rivets sits it and just push it in the hole. But I'm not gunna do this before I get some opinions on this issue.

OH yea goin on a PIPED Viper!!!!!! Throwing that out there cause more fuel is needed to keep her happy.

Fuel pump

If you bought a new pump ordered through your dealer the part number will have been superceded by a new number and is a newer design since 2002. It won't have the same problem freezing as the originals. Please don't modify that new pump!

Mac thanks, you were right it is an updated fuel pump compared to the 02 models, with this one there is no need to silicone the whole or shim it for the freezing issue. So I guess it had to do with the freezing issue.LOL. So I was wrong on that part, oh well learn something new everyday. Thanks again
