Hello all, I'm starting to question my local Yami dealer (name witheld) after recent talk today about possibly trading in both of my 2003 Viper ER's. Many of you that know me, know that I only get to make one trip north each year, and we don't get snow here, so one sled has 1,080 miles and the other has about 1300. One of the Viper ER's was stretched, regeared for a 136 Ripsaw too before I put a single mile on it.
I want to trade both of these sleds in for a 2007 Attak GT possibly, with 4 yr ext warranty, and 108 Woody's studs/ backers. THey told me that I'd have to pay a difference of $3,943 plus $577 for ext warranty, and $433 for studs installed.. Granted, I can install them myself, but they would only take off $50 for that.
So, what do you recommend? I don't need two sleds, I'd like to see what comes out in 08 and snowcheck one, but I'm getting screwed here on these sleds. They've always been in an enclosed trailer, blah, blah, blah..
Need your help, I'm in Southern, IL near St. Louis, and would haul the sleds to a good dealer if you know of one to make the deal happen...
Feel free to pm me if you'd like. Also, you can go to http://www.woodycam.org for pics from the few trips these sleds were on..
Cheers,
joel

Try Port Yamaha. They have been the cheapest on any new machine my freinds have purchased. I think they even advertise on TY. My mom bought a 4 wheeler there last week and they beat the next dealer by $550. Maybe they can do the same for you.
Better Ebay them right now while its still winter and were waiting on our snow.. 1 week or 10 day long auction on them right now would be perfect. You will also make more on them to auction individually... Screw the dealer.. Only thing they are good for is ordering me parts once in a great while.

Try to sell privately?

sell on ebay indiviually or wait for snow and put them in the paper. You'll save yourself thousands. Also check with Larson's cycle in Cambridge, MN - great prices up there.

Nice sleds. I would sell them privately and get a leftover sled next summer. If you don't have to get a brand new sled, you can get some awesome deals in the summertime. I bought two used sleds this summer on this site.
I listed one on ebay for now, and actually have a yami dealer who deals with a lot of waverunners interested in a trade.... Thanks for everyone's help... What are the prices on many of the 07 Attak GT's goin for out there?

I am new here, are we allowed to post prices that we paid for sleds? The reason I ask is because on a forum of one of my other hobbies(Home Theater) we are not allowed to post prices for equipment. If it is ok to post I can tell you what I just paid for a new leftover '06 Attak and what my buddy paid for a new '07 Attak GT.
Btw, nice forum you guys have here. I just got into snowmobiling on Saturday when I bought my '06 Attak, now we just need some snow in upstate NY.

Thanks daman,
Ok I paid $8500 for my leftover '06 Attak, that is everything except tax and registration, I think I got a real fair price. Not sure if I needed a 4 stroke, 998cc, 150HP sled for my first ever sled but it was hard to say no to the price and the financing deal that Yamaha is offering.
My buddy got the '07 Attak GT for $9800, same deal as me on extra fees.
I was real happy with the treatment I received at the shop, family owned business that came highly recommended by my brother-in-law.

Nice score,,you'll love it, enjoy..

I'm about to pull the trigger with the dealer in WI. The owner himself called me, and we talked a while... He's going to get both my 2003 Viper ER's (one with 1,080 miles, and the other 136" has 1,240 miles). I'm also throwing in some extras like cover, etc.
In return, I get a :::
2007 Yamaha Attak GT
4 yr ext warranty
108 Woody's 1.325 gold digger studs Installed
108 Alum backer plates
6" woody's doolies wear bars.
The difference is just around $2,375.. what a deal..
my local dealer wanted $3,943 difference plus $577 for warranty, and $433 for studs.... (name witheld) (I'm not even going to give them the chance to match either)
What does everyone think? I'm going to drive up there on Saturday to pick it up... 6 hrs one way, so I am hoping to drive a few more hours to find some snow for a day or two to just break in the sled a little...
Thanks for everyone's help..

Let me know if you find any snow.... we certianly have none in the U.P.

That is a huge diff on your trades. I took a look at your 136 project as I have some interest in the same on my Viper. I recalled seeing your sleds before (smashed) and then figured out that the 03's were the replacement for the 02's. Both nice looking sleds!
Yep, those are the ones... I started taking my GPS bracket off, and heated shield wiring and started gettin sentimental with the sleds.. Gotta love them, but then I'm gonna love the 4 stroke sound too.
This crazy love for snowmobiling is the only thing that keeps me from going crazy.

Seems crazy to me to buy a brand new top shelf sled if you only go sledding once a year - but maybe thats just me. Then on top of that, why toss out an extra 577 for an extended warranty when you put on minimal milage ????? How often do extended warranties pay off?
You've got some good points Thump. I use to only get to go on one trip per year. When we go on sled trips, it's a minimum of 10 drive one way to Minocqua, more to the UP, and of course more to CO. When we do go, we want to have everything safe, hence the enclosed trailer, and nothing should break down. I don't want the slightest thing to interrupt quality riding time, thus the need for newer equipment. We just don't want to hassle with this or that when we put so much into a trip.
Ok,
ok..
ok.
you got me...
The new sleds are just friggin too cool, I had to have one!!! Especially after becoming single again!!!
