yamaha idler wheels!!

hey guys

i have a 2001 yamaha phazer 500 with the proaction plus suspension and i was wondering about the rear idler wheels. is the bearing made into the rear idler wheel orcan you change them? can someone let me know about this? here is a picture of the rear idler wheel i have on my sled.

yes you can

Yes, the bearings are removeable. If you want, you can also remove the seals from the bearings, clean them, repack them with grease and re-install them. I have done this at least once every two winters and have only had to replace one of the bearings so far with a little over 7,000 miles on my sled so far.
If you have to replace them, take the worn out bearing to a local bearings/drives shop and have them cross referance it to one of their stock bearings which will be much cheaper than getting one from your Yami dealer.
If you don't have a bearing supply shop go to WWW.McMastercarr.com and search their bearing selection.

Depens - some idler wheel bearings are servicable and some are not.. if there is a c clip on the back side they are servicable (as in replaceable). I've never repacked idler wheel bearing - too much work for what they cost. All the bearings on the rear axle are a 6004 if I remember correctly and these are a standard bearing.
 
that idler you can change bearings,,pull the C clip and you may need
to gently press it out..they fit in real tight
