i am pretty sure its first run through 9ft/lbs then 20ft/lbs

torque to 10 in a crossing pattern, then torque to 20 in a crossing pattern. ski

If using a new head gasket torque to 10 ft lbs in a criss-cross pattern and then retorque to 20 ft lbs. Loosen each nut 1/2 turn and retorque to 20 ft lbs. You only need to loosen and retorque if doing a motor with a steel head gasket (SX, Viper, etc) and using a new gasket. It also does not hurt to get the motor up to operating temp and then check the torque again as well.
