OK I just bought a 9830 pre punched for 144 down the middle which ends up being 4 in a row then 2 in a row ect...
the rows with 4's you have to use double backers:
which are better stud boy or woodys.
I was thinking of running 192 down the middle so i can use only double backers. Would this be ok, wouldnt this decrease my chance of pull throughs.
I need to know ASAP, as i have to order them tommorrow to get for friday or i wont be riding this weekend.
please help Jay

Both brands of backers are good, i like the stud boy powerplates because the corners are radiused a bit more so they dont dig in as much and have less chance of cutting in causing a pull through. And yes, using all double backers definately reduces the chances of pull throughs.

wow, thanks for the quick reply, so you dont think 192 down the middle would be over kill, Im gonna order some backers and extra studs tommorrow, I would feel better having all doubl ebackers sense im running 1.175 studs in a 1" track.
Sucks though i already bougtht 144 fast track nyloc backers, that cant be returned.

the closer your studs are the less chance of pull throughs. and thats alot just for the center man. your gonna need some aggressive carbides so you could turn with all of those studs.

I just got the 8.5 inch studman carbides with 5 inch center and 1-3/4 front and rear.

I had the same situation last year and I used Woody's double backers. They seemed to work just fine.

192 is overkill for stock viper. 144 is more than enough. i am running 96 with no problems after 2800 miles. just can't get crazy on the spinning with 96.

jays i live in ottawa too. where are you gonna ride man? we don't have nearly enough snow yet. or any frozen lakes
I have a 03 viper with 144 down the center using both double and single Woody backers. They work great, no pull throughs. I agree, 192 is overkill on that sled.
