Well Bought a 97 600 Vmax XT used this fall, and finally took it out couple weeks back, and the Speedo Isn't working, so I'm wondering if anyone has any idea's/Suggestions on where to look or what might need replacing to get this back working. I didn't really have a chance to look to see if the cable was connected, or if the previous owner disconnected it or not, but I'll be taking a trip up this weekend, so I'll check that out.

The weather is finally getting cold again here :brr So Hoping to get this fixed up before my next trip out

Speedo

If you look underneath the secondary clutch there will be three bolts, remove those bolts, this is what you speedo is running off of, when you remove it, check to see if the pin is in-tack, if not that may be your problem, when you remove it you will know what it looks like, you may want to check the bearing on that side on the drivers, cause i know everytime that i lost a speedo, i lost that bearing...

You definetly want to watch that bearing... bad stuff happens when it goes bad and you don't catch it in time. My speedo stopped working for the last 600 miles last season, turns out i broke the speedo cable ($50 fix). Checked the bearing and it was a little rough and wasn't rolling very even (you could see the wobble when you rotated it) Close call. First it's the bearing, then the repair bill only goes up from there (speedo cable, tunnel, chaincase etc)
