Need opinions on Yamaha track durability, weight etc. Opportunity to buy a new .92 lug Yokahama of which I like the lug pattern (price is good also). Would be putting on a Cat ZR 440 and wondering if it would work?
Otherwise I'm thinking Kimpex 1" Ultimate Traction which I've heard is pretty light. Weight is a concern here, want a light track that will hold up and it seems I've heard the Yoko's are heavy. Hope you Yamaha guys can help me out here. Thanks.

The yoko doesnt hook up at all,had one on my srx and it sucked.I would recommend a 1" #9830 camoplast track, its fairly light (34lbs) and hooks up pretty good.

KIMPEX is not a great manufacturer IMO - at least I haven't had great luck with their idler wheels kits.

My 92 Viper came with the .92 and it had terrible hookup. I went with a 1" 6-pitch Predator, night and day difference. The same track that BlueBlooded mentioned but I had the fully clipped version.
I put the .92 on my wifes 98 Vmax 500 and it wasn't much of an improvement over the stock track.
I've never heard much good about Kimpex tracks. Camo is the only way to go in my opinion.

I guess I'll stick with the Predator then. I've always liked it, probably get the 1" fully clipped and prepunched (144) version next summer. I had no idea the Yoko was THAT bad.

Here's what I found running sleds that I own against each other with different tracks. All races were run on the length off a football field on packed snow.
02 Viper (.92 Yoko) versus 98 Vmax 500 (stock track) - the Viper wins every time but it's a close race upto about half a field, I was actually really disapointed in my Viper when I first got it.
02 Viper (.92 Yoko) versus 92 Vmax-4 (.91 with 192 studs) - not even a race, Vmax-4 walks away from Viper.
02 Viper (1" predator & torque limiter) versus 98 Vmax 500 (.92 Yoko) - Viper walks away from 500.
02 Viper (1" Predator & torque limiter) versus 92 Vmax-4 (same) - really good race, the Viper gives the Vmax-4 a run for the money but the Vmax-4 usually wins.
Just for the sake of the comparrison the Vmax-4 is no dog. It's geared down slightly for 660', it has raised cylinders, cut heads, 800 pipes, clutch work, and partially blue printed drive line.
I wouldn't say that there is anything wrong with the Yoko track, there are just others that hook-up a lot better.

I blew the yoko track off my 97 sx with only 1100 miles! Didn`t like the hookup and they sure don`t last long either. Will never own another sled with a yoko track for sure!

I don't have any experience with the .92, but the yoko tracks are extremelly durable. I still have have the stock yoko track on my 95 Vmax 600, 5500 miles on it, track is still in good shape. On my 93 Exciter II, I had over 8000 miles on the stock yoko before I sold the sled.
