I have a 1998 Vmax sx, twin cylinder, it has not been running in 4 years, it was stored with no gas in it and and was full off oil. It will not start unless i prime the spark plugs with some gas!, once i do this three or four times it will run perfect!, i had the carbs off today and they are perfect (no dirt)! i also took apart the choke plunger's and they are clean.

Could i have a problem with my fuel pump?

and to the pump mix her oil inside the fuel pump and then supplies it to the engine?

thanks ian

Remove all jets and spray them all out..make sure you can see thru them all. Drain Gas Tank completly. Drain the tank, put in new gas...then let the gas run out of the lines for a about a minute to make sure all the old gas is out of the lines and pump.

Finish it off with a new set of plugs.

The oil you are seeing is telling me its getting oil from the oil pump. It just needs clean new gas now and probably a new set of plugs.

how many times have you now pulled it over?

now

pull it 100 more times...

this is if when you prime it, it runs until the fuel is gone... if you need to prime it again to hear it run only a few seconds again, then fuel hasn't filled the carb bowls yet...
