Run premium, 91 octane or better EVERY tank-poor performance and the wear on the sled is not worth the few bucks you "save" at the pump.

I wont run anything but premium in my sled, ive heard horror stories of guys that run regular fuel just to save the money, definately not worth it

premium
I always run premium when it is avaliable.
I should have been more clear. Some places I ride premium fuel is not avaliable and I have no choice.

I've heard that it's not always the best idea to buy premium from small remote places as this gas is hardly used and sometimes sits for months, whereas the regular 87 is always fresh.
Just a thought. From a big place in the middle of a busy town, by all means, go ahead and filler' up with the good stuff.

I always wondered how accurate the octane is on the pumps. Can or is it possible for a fuel company to fill a 93 octane cell with 87 octane fuel and get away with it.

well it wouldnt be the most honest thing to do . but one never knows. we try to fuel caddy our gas from a local station at home befor we head on a trip. also saves a little $$$ from buying all our gas up north and atleast i know every other tank or so is fresh thats whare the octane boost comes in handy most 87 is fresh. and also use a moisture bag in your tank to get rid of unwanted water in the tank
different companies use DIFFERENT colors to distinguish their grades of fuel!!! ASK the guy at the service station WHO makes his gasoline and you can tell if you are getting ripped off or not... Just pump a little into a coffee cup ( try and NOT use plastic) and look at the color... THERE are ONLY A FEW refineries wherever you are riding.. BP uses CLEAR and so does MOBIL for their SUPER UNLEADED and guys like marathon and citgo use BLUES and PURPLES!!!! IF ITS YELLOW or ORANGE,,, chances are YOU GOT RIPPED OFF!!!! YES, there are different coupling devices for different fuels,,, but ONLY IN THE AVIATION sector!!! 99% of filling stations use the SAME KIND of coupling (providing its vapor recovery)... Small towns and small stations use camlock fittings!!! DANGEROUS and PROBABLY ILLEGAL nowadays!!!
STYROFOAM cups won't last too long either!!!

most octane boosters are total junk!! if you want to really increase your octane, mix in tolulene @ about one gallon to a tank full. tolulene is about 130 octane, but will not lean the mixture like alcohol. This will bring the octane of 87 to about 92-93. Octane boosters usually hurt you because they have oxygenators in them, witch actually leans out your sled, and makes it run hotter. Call the boys at klotz, they have a good product, and will tell you the truth about regular harware store octane boosters.

Now how far will you get on a tank of premium. I was getting about 160-170kms on an 8.2 gallon tank of regular with my Phazer. I've heard the 700 is pretty good on gas though, so hopefully that's true.

My srx 600 gets about 12 -13 mpg if I am not to the bar out of the corners.
