Hi

Got a 98 SRX 700. It had destroyed clutches when I bought it and now I have put on some clutches which I *think* has been on a viper.

The pimary clutch is upgraded with a red spring and heelclicker kit. Secondary is original.

Problem is: it starts going at ~5300 rpm and lies at 9500 rpms at full trottle. It doesn't seem like it is accelerating properly until it reaches about 70-75 mph.

I have the viper belt on it, could this be wrong?

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to improve this.. ? Start going at lower rpm and better acceleration?

Thanks.

Your using clutching set up for a 116 hp sled on a 136 hp sled..not gonna work with out tweaking. All you gotta do is add more weight to the primary. If you can tell me exactly how the primary is set up( bolt & washer placement & which holes) I can get ya bang on with 1 -2 changes. Your definately gonna need more weight in the heel & tip. Start with adding 2-3 grams in heel & 2-3 grams in the tip for starters. sled should be no higher then 8400 rpm at wide open throttle.

Thank you. I will go home and open up the primary and see what's inside there.

also it's very difficult to start when cold (will not start without start-gas-on-box). What can be the problem here? cant seem to find any vakuum leaks.

Also, when driving into deep snow the engine sputters and almost dies. any suggestions? rpms dropped rapidly. could this be because of the clutches?

thanks.

I have now opened my primary and took a few pictures.

First picture is from my new secondary probably off a viper? Notice the 3 8BV 30

The next picture is the helix from my broken secondary. Notice the 3 8BV 70.

Next picture is the heelclicker weight from the new primary. I do not know if this is the right one for my SRX. no numbers on it. Anyone recognize it? What weights do I have to apply where? How do I know that this is the right one for my srx?

Last picture is of a black yellow spring (original? from my wrecked clutch) versus a red spring on the new one. Does the red spring look ok in size?

So please anyone tell me which parts I should use any if I must purchase anything new to get my SRX700 going properly.

Thanks

Your running heelclickers. To get em to work properly in the SRX you really need a different helix, 50/36 works very well. Your set up is all messed up & needs a lot of changes to get it to work. You can also try the #30 helix. add 5 grams to heel of your weights, keep the inner weight & add 3 grams to tip.

I gotta take a class on clutching... Turk is a guru for sure. Would love sit down with that guy with a few beers and have Him educate me. :2strokes:

Thank you Turk! you are the man! :D

It works great now. It engages at ~4000 rpm and max rpm is 8500. That should be just about right? It got much stronger now.

Just need a couple of more advices. I am gonna use my SRX mostly in deep snow and was wondering if a 50/36 helix as you recommended would be my best choice or perhaps a different one?

My biggest problem aside from clutching is that it almost dies in deep snow which may be because the exhaust gets clogged with snow. Is this a normal issue with these SRX'es and what is recommended to do in order to resolve it?

Anyone? thanks

From what Ihave been hearing, one thing you could try is flipping your shock mount to get a little more height in your front end. Take the left mount and put it on the right and put the right mount on the left upside down.
