I am getting tired of having to burn my thumb off, in order to get my handwarmer warm enough.
I believe it was 2000+ SRX's that went to 2 reostats instead of 1
Has anybody with a '98 or '99 separated the hand thumb into 2 reostats?? Is it even possible without swapping the harness?

My wife had the same problem with her 2000 SX500R. I took an aftermarket thumb warmer kit, put the resister and hi/off/low switch from the kit between the stock rheostat (sp) and the stock thumb warmer. With the switch on high it's basicly the stock setting, warm hands hotter thumb. With the switch on low the hands are able to get hotter while the thumb stays cooler. Off is off. Not sure what the kit cost, I just happen to have one on my shelf. We bought the sled new and it was installed not long after it was bought.

ok, there's an option....but Id like to do this while using yamaha parts....I have an extra reostat...and was wondering if the circuits could be separated

Could you break the thumb warmer off the circuit and run it parallel to what is there now? I am wondering the same thing as I need to do this to my sled... Plus I already bought the yamaha rheostat and knob. Tracy
P.S. I know that for '01-'02 that yamaha did have a seperate knob setup for the thumb warmer....Maybe need to find a wiring diagram.

handwarmer
Ya i did this on my 98 srx i took the thumbarmer wire the gives power to the thumbwarmer and ran power from the blue wire to my headlight switch like where you would hook up a heated visor....run it to the switch and ran it back to the power in of the thumbwarmer.....you can't run it parallel off the handwarmer because the switch cuts down power to the voltage regulator for the handwamer and thumbwarmer....so now i have full power to both and switched power to both hand and thumbwarmer.....also i removed the remote kill switch and put the switch in that location looks like the new srxs
