I am rebuilding my 98 vmax 600 sx after a ring caught on the exhaust port on the PTO side. Since I couldn't find a used cylinder I elected to have my cylinder re-nicasiled. In the process I bought Kimpex pistons sets and new needle bearings. I split the crankcase and everything looked really good. I also ordered a complete gasket set along with new crankcase seals I see there are two different OEM seals one for PTO and one for mag seal. The kit I got (Winderosa) - 712247 the seal doesn't fit. Trying to lookup a cross reference list winderosa makes a seal that crosses to the mag side seal but they have nothing listed for the PTO side. Is makes a complete gasket set not so complete. Has anyone else ever had this problem buying complete gasket sets or shall I return this set as the wrong seals may have been placed into it? Can anyone offer any suggestions? I purchased the pistons, bearings, and gasket kit from Pats small engine plus in MN.

I would recommend using Yamaha seals and gaskets, they are a little more money but the gaskets are much better.
My 2 cents
Look up crank and cases in working log...It was a econo rebuild...I had great advice from alot of T.Yers here...you can probably skimp on some things like pistons, belts & plugs, but gaskets & seals stick with O.E.Ms your better off in the long run...and get a tube of yamabond or threebond liquid gasket #1104 when you put your cases together...I used blue locktite on the seals outer edge to seal to the cases & grease up your seal and crank before, so it doesn't dry out and burn up...good luck with the rebuild...

I will have to send the gasket set back - it is not the correct one the other gaskets are not the right ones either. Now I'm am wondering if the engine is a 98 or not. I have to do some more checking.
