I broke a rod in my viper. Have been looking for an engine or bottom end. The more I check around I am finding other people with the same problem. I talked to a dealer who said the Yamaha rep has been seeing this problem. I have been twisting it to 9100 to 9300 with my Venom Kit. Any body else experiencing this problem or have a fix before I put it back together?

Crank Failure

How many miles do you have on it? I currently have 7800 miles and it been piped since day one. I also spin 9300 RPM. I wonder how long it can go before failure. I would like to know the cost if anyone knows of complete rebuild all bearing and rods trued welded ready to go?

They are expensive to fix, just went through it myself. Vyper, depending on what you need I may have some of the crank parts if you end up fixing yours.

Have you priced a rebuilt crank thru Atelier Adrian Bernard in QC? Buddy did his Doo crank thru them, good results and service. Stay away from the repopped cylinders though.
Personally 9200 rpm is a bit scary. Should rev 8600 or so. Mines got 15K Km so i'm xing my fingers.

Pipes need RPM's to work.

why stay away from their cylinders? they are a oem qualified company. i know they are really good, and have had them do work on my engine. i had 11000 kms on my viper engine and the bearings were begining to get loud so i had them replace all bearings necessary, cost me something like 110 bucks, and i know they replaced atleast4 bearings. i also had them do my cylinder and it is perfect. never had any problems with them. i know its my cylinder i got back because i had porting so i needed the same cylinder back.

Glad yours worked out.
Cyls. are Not OEM qual from what I've seen. Have witnessed too many issues with them. I will only buy OEM only. As I said though, I'd buy their cranks.
