Is there any identifying marks on mega domes to figure out what domes they are????? I read up on how many diff. domes that were made for these heads and it ranges all the up to 5 or 6 diff. domes. I'm not running this set-up till I find out what domes I was sent. Any help will be apprecaited
P.S. Theres a along story behind this whole ordeal, and if I dont become a satisfied buyer of these heads my story will be told. And I'll get your guys opinions on the situation. But for now the name will be kept quite. Thanks

when you pop the dome out of the head, there is a stamping number on the inside of the dome... just hold the sides of the head and push the hex around the spark plug hole and the dome will pop right out.. Mark Giamattei made some REAL NEAT STUFF!!! you will have to have some SPECIAL LENGTH head bolts if you plan on using the stiffner plate that goes with the heads!!! The normal head bolts do not have enough threads and if you try and torque them, you will probably rip some threads out of the jug!!! Been there and done that... metric head bolts have to be ordered through a guy in naperville Illinois.. if you want, i will look into getting a phone number for you.. You have to measure the headbolts and add the thickness of the new megapower stuff and minus the stock head thickness to get the proper thread engagement.... to get the proper length bolts.. Mega power does NOT sell head bolts and I never heard of the specs being posted!!!!
Its a pain in the butt that NO ONE will tell you about before they sell you the heads,, but like I said before,, Mark made some real neat stuff... its a shame that what happened, happened,, It was a GREAT LOS to the snowmobile community.. he had some really good ideas but,,,like me,,,, an attitude that doesnt mix well with others!!!
I used a LOT of Marks stuff and even had dinner with him and his wife a time or two!!! Went real fast and beat a lot of guys with a 700cc sled!!! Ran LOW TENS consistently!!! but,,just like meg and so many others,,,politics and AsSkissers drove me from the sport!!!!

viper trail domes i believed are marked 5 on the dome facing the shell area. viper domes have a narrower squish band area than the srx domes.
with help from a few tyer's inc bearit, srxspec and mrviper700, i have my sled together and replacement domes are being sent to bearit soon. (got pleasant suprize for you buddy!)
so i know what you are going through, some of these domes arnt marked and you need to look at the cc chambers and squish areas to tell them apart, it is not easy by any means. i wish you great luck. took us several weeks of shipping back and forth, pacience and machining to get my sled up and running.
i will have a spare set of original untouched viper domes for the megapower heads in a few days if you need them we can work something out. ski

Hi guys
I would be interested in that phone number Nosboy as I am running the mega power head plate and heads and thought the same thing but never herd that you needed longer bolts for that setup.
Thanks Steve

Well I know its not a good comparsion but I compared my Peak 22cc domes to the megas domes I was sent. The squish bands are narrower on the Megas, but the dome itself is larger than the 22cc Peak domes. But again I know this isnt a good comparsion. SKI I may take ya up on that offer but then my MAIN problem comes into play MONEY.
$350 MEGAS
$75 Hauck Water Rail
$50 5-MPH Plate
$20 Shipping then
$30 for Express Shipping cause a guy recieved my package and I recieved his. Why cause someone cant label the right packages, even though the boxs were no near the same size. And thats only a small part of the story.
For a Total of $525, plus not knowing what domes I was sent. So possibly more money there. But theres a story behind the domes also.
OOOO yea the only markings I can see are 2 holes drilled across from each other on the cooling side of the dome. But those could be there just cause.

the two holes are alignment pins i believe, and you dont utilize them. 350 for used mega powers with no water rail? i sold a set to maxdlx with the head plate, but without the water rail for 250 a few weeks ago. the shipping should have been taken care of buy the seller for messing up. shouldnt have cost you a dime. (in my opinion).
pop the dome out of the head and look at the outside where the steps are, the edge might have a stamped number.
not fun when you dont get what was advertized. buyer beware.
i wont hurt you on the dome price if you want them. you'll be doing me a favor by taking them. you might wanna look around for some cometic .010 headgaskets. better than splitting your stocker. (cheaper too)

Well looks like I have been had cause I also found a set that was sold by a member that was selling them for $250 with a rail. But this was after the transaction was already made. But now you know I'm really NOT HAPPY with this out come whats so ever. And if the situation isnt taking care of privately, I will raise hell on this issue. Cause it not like were talking pennys here, were talking my hard earned cash. Which is something that makes my blood boil more than anything when I'm not happy with somthing. I dont sell stuff unless its to MY liking and I'm really anal when it comes to stuff like this. If I wont run it, I wont sell it I'll trash it or sell it cheap letting the person know whats wrong with it. EZ as that. So pending well see what happens.

Your #1 performance shop!
Some of the early heads were stamped with ink instead of with an actual steel stamper and the stamping was easily removed. If they were stamped with the steel stamping set you will clearly see it opposite of the 2 little drilled holes. Ski just picked up the last 8 of the #5 Mega domes that Maxx Perf had left. There are several big bore domes left and several sets of complete SRX head setups as well.

Must have been the older ones, cause I have 20/20 vision and cant find nothing stamped.
Are the STOCK CUT Viper trail domes worth running or should I just have the ones I have now just recut? Thats even if I keep them but again thats all pending on what goes on with the seller.

The guy I got the head bolts from (socket head cap screws) is Metric and multistandard Components Corp... Burr Ridge, Illinois 630-655-9009 or 1 800 221-4469 (toll free).. I told him the sizes I needed and he sent them out right away,,, I used Socket head cap screws and I dont remember the sizes,, but I had to figure out the lengths and order the right bolts because the mega head with plate is too thick for the stock length bolts...

Mega Power Volumn
I'm looking at a set of Mega power domes and mine don't have any stamp or identifing marks either. Also I cant figure out why your bolts wont work. My original Yamaha head and these Mega Power are the same thickness. I can say visually that the Mega heads volumn appears smaller than the J Simons prepared head mod. I was hoping to have 24cc for trail riding. Anyone know how to check volumn? I'm guessing I will have to fill with water each head and measure cc with a measuring beaker to accurately attain cc's.

mac, you install a sparkplug then place dome upside down and clamp it in vise by the spark plug, lace a peice of plexi glass with hole drilled in center over dome( I like to barely smear some grease around edges to seal the plexi glass to dome edge) and then using a cc buret(you could use a marked syringe also) fill the dome till it touchs the plexi glass keeping track of how many cc it took to fill it.

Thank You Mr. Viper I knew you would reply. Sounds easy enough. I will report my findings.

Mega Domes
Here is what I found out today. My Mega Power domes are 24cc. From intructions to verify from MrViper. I followed his instuctions per the pics below. Works perfect. I used exactly 24cc water and you can see the only space left unfilled the small air bubbles in the pic representing several drops of water. My PSI with 5 pulls on the rope throttle wide open is 145, 147, 148. This is a cold engine with a fresh top end.

bolt them up and go rip up the yard Mac!!!!!!!!!! your good to go!!
The head bolts i am referring to is with the STIFFNER plate added on a SRX motor.. the thickness of the stiffner plate will make some of the head bolts PULL the threads from the jugs when you try and torque to specs!!! BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT,,, Thats why i am telling you... NO STIFFNER plate,,, no problems,,, stiffner plate,, NEW (longer) head bolts... I hope that explains it!!!

Mac, did you have your domes rechambered or no????? I noticed on your domes, the squish band is much wider than the domes I recieved. I would like to measure the CC as you did, but I cant find anything around the house to measure the amount.
NOSBOY, I planned on running the headplate but the heads look alot better with it off, so as of now I dont plan of running it, if they stay in my possesion. But does the headplate REALLY do anything anyway???, cause by the looks of it doesnt look like it would.
