When i took my powervalves off this weekend the two outside ones were alright but when i removed the middle valve the cable was off. The end of the cable had worn through the valve. Do you think this may have caused damage to the middle piston or rings?

Can you see the piston from PV hole to duobble check?
PV suppose not to reach to pistons.

No it shouldn't have caused damage but if it 's worn and able to slide down far egnough it might slightly scuff the piston that happed on a sled I bought years ago.If you take off youe echaust manifold and get a light in there you can see the whole piston just turn the primary to move the piston up and down.

I checked in there with a light and i didn't see any scuff marks. Do you think i should repair the valve or just buy a new one. I don't know how much they are worth.

a brand new valve at the yammy dealer is about 80$ too bad your not from montreal i know a guy the re conditions them

You should also check the servo, something caused this problem. Just replacing the power valve could be a big mistake. I had a power valve come off go into the cylinder and out into the exhaust without damaging the cylinder, now thats luck. It would not surprise me if you need a servo and cables and unfortunately it is not cheap. Do yourself a favor and check with a mechanic that has a lot of experience with these valves. Good Luck.

yes most of the time hen the cable pulls throught they are gummed up and stuck and when the cable goes to pull it up and the powervalve won't move something is going to wear out .This is the biggest thing that happens.Clean them once a year and you won't have any problems.

The valves were very clean. When i pulled them out they were not stuck at all. The valve looks like the cable just worn through. I always clean my valves at the beginning and halfway through the year. I don't let them get gummed up to much.

if the valve was'nt stuck then i think it must have been out of adjustment, the servo kept pulling even though the valve couldnt move anymore. cant imagine anyother reason for it but as another mentioned you may also need a cable look right near the end and look for loose strands of the wire rope.

oh crap man, I hope you can get these parts by the weekend. Is there anything I can do. Let me know maybe I could try and fix it at work if worse comes to worse.

the servo motor just needs adjustment..mine had done the same last year i adjusted them way too tight and they all pulled through and everything was clean..finally got them done properly this year

Yps

Hey, was reading your post. If you cannot get a new one in time, I have a used one...I can loan you...pay the shipping...send it back when you get your new one...If this helps out...no snow here in Ottawa...
