I have a friend with an 88 phazer which recently had a starter die. He said he accidentally arc'd the battery to the sled when putting a new batt. in it. He says the starter used to work until this happened. If he pulls the rope, it will start and run fine.
I am thinking it is probably a fuse for the starter. Does this sound right? What else could it be? Where would i find the fuses in this sled to check them? i have never actually seen the sled. Thanks.

If I remember correctly, the fuse is in a black rubber holder at the bottom of the battery tray(I think it's the glass tube type of fuse). Hold each end of the fuse holder and pull it apart.
It could also be the starter relay; I think it is mounted at the bottom of the battery tray aswell.
You can test the starter motor by applying 12 volts to the wire(starter motor side) at the relay.

Well my friend finally brought the sled to me and i was able to check some stuff, the fuse is fine. I am thinking the relay might be the suspect. I got a new/used starter and it does nothing, just like the old one. So i am thinking is must be the relay or wiring somewhere along the way. If i hook 12v straight to the starter, should it turn over? Where does the starter get its ground from since there is only the one positive lead going to it?
Any input would be nice, thanks.
