Most people I deal with like the 98's and the 2001's I have a 98 I like it.

The 2001 And 2002 Were The Best And The 2001 Better Because It Does Not Have The Dcs System Wich Is A Pain In The Arse.

I would go for an 01 or 02, the DCS is a nice little insurance policy if you happen to get some bad gas on the trail, and simply jetting an 02 to 01 specs solves any DCS issues. Pretty simple fix for a pain in the arse. Wish I could say the same for their suspension! Much improved electrical/lighting systems over the 98/99's .

I own both a 98 and a 02. The 98 headlight and traction are not anywhere near as good as the 02, but the 98 handles way better. Also the 98 track did not wear very well , but you would not want a track that old anyway. The 02 has the dcs light which is a great feature and has much nicer hand/thumb warmer controls. When tuned the same the 02 is also faster then a 98. However the 98 is probably the best snowmobile I have ever owned and the 02 the worst but most fun.

I don't know which year is the best for the srx but i have had no trouble with my 01.

I have a 98 and love it. Its been a great sled and have had no real problems with it. Having said that, the better headlight, traction and power of the 00-02 can only make it better again.
