Help please!!

easiest way to check on condition is to just do a compression test on all 3 cylinders, they should all read within a couple lbs of compression of each other, same amount of pulls per cylinder.

I'll try to get one tomorrow, I was just wondering tonight since i was going for a ride..the sled just sounds alittle diffrent than before can't really tell on power since the conditions are alot diffrent..thanks mr.viper

if your sled is stored on the floor or ground, always check for a mouse house in the exhaust...had to help the neigbor on his 800 and his sled was on on the ground a few days only, it also sounded different, muffled, luck it didn't catch fire in the exhaust,

montana sled hasn't been sitting..Mr.viper, I replaced the piston rings about 300 miles ago..used the same gaskets with lots of gasket spray...doesn't leak anywhere outside the jugs/heads..i know that dosn't speak for inside..but the psi should be above 115 correct?

psi depends on the design of guage, the longer the hose the lower the reading as your adding the area in the hose to the chamber cc

its probably just going to blow up, just put it out of your mind, dont even think of it. just ride and have fun, never give it another thought.

hill climbs saturday, maybe it will still be running.

check your reeds, especially if you have carbon, they chip and break, and make weird sounding engines when this happens.

so if psi is all up to spec or within good tolerances motor "should" be strong?usual case senario is piston/ rings?i'll check those reeds tonight after work, that could be the problem...do the reeds chip near the end of the pedal?

the test is just a quickie, usually if you hurt something its going to have a rather large drop in compression from 1 cylinder to the next, like example:120,120,85, something like that, dont focus on the numbers as much as the range, like Scott said all guages will read differnt with differnt hoses,sp.plug length adapters etc.

As far as reeds go they usually split up from the end or aftermarket ones chip the edges off, you can look at those easy enuff with carb rack off and shine a small mag lite in there, should all be good and tight to reedcage.

sorry to bother guys but i'm not sure what it was, checked the valves, compression was only off by 10 lbs from one cylinder to the other two, reed pedals were fine...so i said the hell with it and went for a ride and its cold out today sled ran fin...didn't notice a diffrence in sound...may have been bad gas? I did run it low on whatever was in there..

probably a rode rattling around in there, just ride it, it will just break off. have fun,
you going to the hill climbs saturday?
