2000 Phazer crank same as 1995 ?

Not to discredit a respected fellow user, but it is my understanding that portions of the crank, the cases, and a few other items were changed in 1999. This is what prompted (along with marketing) the change to the 500 designation. The butterfly carbs continued to be used in 1999 thru 2001. I am unaware of flatside carbs being used on any of the Phazers.

Will the crank work? Possibly.
Have I tried it? No

I have rebuilt a 2000 Phazer engine though, and did find parts difficult to come by.

If you have a 2000 crank, i would sell it for a good price and buy a previous version at a lower price. The earlier versions are far more available than the 1999 - 2001 versions.

Again, I mean no disrespect.

part numbers from yamaha are not the same. i owned both sleds(485 and 500) and the engine is basically the same, i know for sure the cases are different and have different mounts, also im pretty sure that the magneto is different. carbs were the same.

I didn't mean to sound like I really don't know for sure, I just didn't want to beat up on a fellow user.

I have held all these parts in my own hands, and there are a number of differences. For a complete list see the 1999 Tech Update manual.
