well i was cleaning my valves(02) srx. and had manually turned the servo to get the valves out. the puller on the servo was not marked for open or closed, i dont have the tool either. i want to adjust the valves now, how do i get the servo to go to the position for checking valve clearance? do i want the valve opened or closed? thanks

i realize this has been beat to death, but i need to ask about my specific situation.

You want the servo motor in the full open position. Please note that this is not simply turning it all the by hand, but rather having the servo itself poistion to full open. It will actually turn by hand farther than it opens under power. Then of course you adjust the valves to the fully open position. Be sure that there is a small amount of play left in them or they may pull the cable through the end of the valve stems.

One way to find full open is to start the engine and then drop the rpm's to 900 by either opening the starter flipper (sometimes called choke) or by adjusting the idle speed. You should see the servo motor turn when this occurs.

Try this...

Do a search and you will see that there are several ways of doing this and end up with them adjusted...
