A friendasked me to give his Viper a little boost so I installed a 51/43 yamaha helix with the red spring at 80. Cheap like he wanted but with no snow what am I to expect? No one has the green secondary spring so I had been looking in the search and came across that set up.

Any comments?

Your gonna overrev & be down hp with that helix. You gotta at least change inner rivet to a 4.5 gram from a 3.6 & will need more helix or go back to a 47.

Hmmm...curious aswell...I picked up a Dalton 52/42...looking into a green spring...I was just figuring anything close to a 53/43 would work good...I was told by the guy who sold it to me to put in a set of 8D2-20's with 3.6 inner and 4.5 outer...However I thought Black1000 would at least see some sorta gains...Yes/No?
Oh..and Black1000 looks like you'll be finally seeing the white stuff today..atta boy

Ya we got some. I will do some playing with the clutch on that Viper. I thought a good set up was the 51/43 with green spring at 60 or the red at 80. I can add more weight to the tip NO?

Tip is maxed out unless you install a washer under the rivet before you peen it over but watch so the washer does not go over the ramp height & contact the roller.

The stock ain,t bad if it,s pulling proper rpm,s. You can get better acceleration by changing inner rivet to a 4.5 gram & keep the clutching stock. Changing to a 48/40 advant-edge or 53/43 dalton works too.

As long as rpm,s are good in the primary then u can play with helix,s . Get rpm,s close & start playing & look for gains.

Stock 8ek weights have 4.5 inner, 3.6 outer. Shop manuals are misprinted. I run 4.5 in each with 51/43 helix, g-w-g primary and green secondary spring @70 and it rips! Ran neck and neck wtih heel clicker clutched Viper until that one had a helix change, but it smokes other Vipers. RPMs are right on at 8500.
