I just rebuilt my 97 700 and resealed the crank cases ,they were torqued to spec and the sealant squeased out all the way around.I now have developed a ever so small weap from the middle cylinder on the exhaust side in the case halfs.I know the 98's have more bolts added to the case halfs on the outside were the join is and I am wondering if it is for this reason. For now I an not to conserened obout it.Like I said it was all rebuilt to spec and I believe it weaps on the down stroke as it is clean fuel mixture tha comes out.It also won't leak on idle.Has anyone ran into this on a 97 700 tripple?

hylamar,it is a very good sealant that we use in the petro chemical industry. It is non setting meaning it don't handen stiff hard but at the sametime gets very tacky.Similar to the permatex guys use on there head gaskets.I just looked at a 98 engine and it has 6 extra bolts and they are placed at potential leak points.

I only found the leak because I had a coolant leak,I also have another 97 engine that was sealed with yamabond and you can see the same leak in the same spot.Just enough to make the case damp.
