Well guys I rebuilt my 97 700 and put a new mechanical seal in her. I started her up and I had a constant drip from the weep hole. The first thing I thought was a faulty seal. Not so.The problem is the spline gets worn in the impeller and it actually wobels on the shaft and damages the rubber coated washer the impeller bolt goes through. This inturn allows coolant to get past the washer onto the spline and actually goes through the middle of the seal and out the weep hole. The fix is you have to put locktite on the shaft, install the impeller and use a new washer and torque to spec.I got this information from my lacal yamaha shop.

Would happen to know the torque spec for the impeller? I rebuilt mine and after one trip it was dripping again. Going to try this as a fix now
