got a 1998 srx700 with a bent front heat exchanger. my dealer says i'm looking at $600-$1K to fix, depending on if we need to replace the bulkhead or not.
is it worth fixing or should we part out the sled? is there somewhere i can get a used front end cheap?
rest of the sled is in good condition, new track and the engine runs great, only 2K miles on it.
don't really know what to do.
any opinions?
thanks

sled is at the dealer's now so can't take any pics. coolant just pours out so hole must be fairly large. was told they'd have to remove the rear end and tilt the engine to get at it.
how much do you think the sled is worth if we sold it as is? (ballpark)

If it only has 2k miles on it I would guess $1300 as is???? Just a guess. This winter is hard on sled sales, especially ones that aren't rideable and need work done to them.

Just got a price on new front heat exchanger for a 2000 SRX. 360+tax canadian. i you could do the work yourself you could cut your bill down quite a bit.

sled is for sale if anyone wants it
$1200 obo
can deliver to southern NE

Its worth more in parts then whole, the engine is worth about $900-$1000 alone. the rest will bring a good $1000-$1300+ in parts, rear skid, frt shocks,tr arms, hood, bulkhead, seat, pipes, etc.

THis brings into question, if you have a 1" track with 1.075 woodys carbide studs. should you even need front protectors? I had one and it fell off and Ive been riding for about 500 miles that way. I did have some damage to the exchanger but only because after I changed the track and went a few miles the track loosened way up. Since I tightened it no problems.
