I sold my 1997 700 SX last year, and I told myself I wasn't gonna buy a new one... Picked up 2 1998 700 SRX's, 1 with 1400 miles the other with 2200 miles, in great condition for $3200 for both! Just couldn't pass it up! Anybody have any expierience with these sleds? I only got to put 25 miles on when we bought them, and holy S*** there fast!

best thing to do is to take the vin to a dealer and see what updates were done and if any need to be done. about the biggest issue they had was bad cranks that SHOULD have been corrected with yamaha. worth a look 
Great machine , very depenable great gas mileage , goes thru the trail like its on a rail. very fast on lake runs . at about 4k my track exploded, & yes most 98 cranks were repaired dlr wty the crank cases were marked on the clutch side. you will enjoy this rocket.
