I finally got to do some real world testing on my set-up. I have a 94 Vmax 600 ST long track with a 2000 Venture 136" skid. After a rebuild of top-end I also installed 96 XT pipe, carbs and secondary clutch. I am running stock helix with green spring at 70 degrees. I also installed a slightly heavier spring in the primary. It will easily rev to 8100 and then slowly reach 8400 or so RPM. It also seems to have a little less power in the 30 -60 range. It comes out of the hole pretty good. Engagement is around 3500-3800. What should I do? Original springs had around 4500 miles on them so I replaced with slightly heavier. I strictly trail ride or a little off trail playing. Should I change springs? Also I ran the 89-L belt.

You need to put heavier rivets in the weights on the primary. That engine should run at 7650-7800 rpms . I used to run my 95 600st at 7650 and I felt that that was where it pulled the best.
