picked up a 92 exciter II about a year ago with psi single pipe, top speed is right about 70@7100rpm. should this sled run 90-95mph,plugs look light brown,

70 is too low; based on age of the sled (and my experience...) Your clutches probably need attention. I pull both the primary and the secondary and look for worn parts (ramps, spacers, etc.) Put a fresh belt on lately?

You say that it does 70 @7100rpms , the speed is low because the rpms are low that Exciter II stock should run about 7750 rpms ,and the PSI pipe may want to run a little higher. What I would do is check to make sure every thing is right, like the carbs ,cable adjustments things like that, and if OK then I would retune your clutches to run at right RPMs . Are you sure that the pipe is an Exciter II pipe? Check with PSI to find what RPM that pipe runs at .

When I had my '93 Exciter II it would regulary run about 90-95 on the speedo and when conditions were perfect it would top 100mph on the speedo. Sled was 100% stock.

any sugestions on what to look for on the clutches, i do not know about clutches, the carb main is 320 and the plugs look light brown.pulls good up to 70 mph @7100rpm and no more speed i was told by friend who used to have a exciter they max out rpm @7200-7300 anymore and your overreving the motor.

your secondary cluch should have 3 nylon pads in it that alow the clutch to open, I bet they are gone and you are running aluminu on aluminum, and also check the rollers in the primary.

A Phazer is a ~70 M.p.h. sled and the Exciter ~ 90 so, I'm with these guys pull your clutches apart then inspect and clean everything. Depending on how many miles if you'll need to replace pins, rollers, plastic guides and/or weights in the primary and the secondary plastic buttons and/or bushing !
