How important is it to bleed the oil pump after my Viper was on its side. I had the machine on its side for a few hours putting on studs. The manual says that you should bleed the oil pump when the machine is tipped up on the side. I have never really done this on my SXR's I used to ride.

I know what the manual says, but if it matters at all i have never known anyone to bleed their oil pump after having their sled up on its side. I have installed studs numerous times in the same way and never had a problem. That being said, there are no guarantees that nothing COULD happen, so if you are worried about it, its better to be safe than sorry, so go ahead and bleed it. Its not very hard to do by any means.
How much oil was in your tank at the time...It's easy to bleed, just loosen the screw between the carbs and rotate engine without starting it...it should start to flow...then fire it up and pull apart the oil cable and you will know that oil is getting to the carbs, cause shes gonna smoke...then your good to go...

Like holic said i don't think it's needed, i've done that too and never had
a problem,if your tank was at least 1/2 or more full don't
worry about it.
but like the rest said, do it if ya can't sleep good at night.

do it and make sure, it takes about a minute. just crack the bolt between the pto and center carb, start it up and let it run till you see oil coming out, then tighten it up. all done.
