Hi guys , I was wondering how a mostly stock Viper would fair up against a bone stock 800 HO Rev . My freind is getting one this week and Ive heard from a few people that the Viper wont have much trouble on a short drag race but I didnt want to tell him that . Any one know from experience out there ?

If it is a powertech your done.....badly! If it is a 03 you might be close.

before i piped my viper i had only a 51/45 helix and studs out pulled my buddies 03 rev 800 in a short distance..never ran him full out.

Its an 05 leftover with 1 mile on it , not sure what the power ratings were on those sleds .Im sure ill find out how nasty it is . He bought it just because he didnt want to be slower than me so im sure he'll want to run it .

In a short race my friends 06 REV renegade 600 HO SDI beat the 05 800 HO renegade. It took until 70 or so before the 800 HO caught up. Both machines stock with no studs just 1.25 factory ripsaw

I run a 2002 Viper with Bender pipes, 1.25" track, studs, 8 tooth drivers and regeared to a 1.87 drive ratio (1.73 stock). A good friend of mine runs a stock REV 800 - I think it's a 2004 maybe.

I out weigh him by a good 75 lbs and consistantly beat him to about 85-90 mph (my set up tops out about 100 mph) when he goes by me. Never raced him stock though. I'd have to say he'd have me pretty good if I were stock. His REV runs pretty good.

Another friend has a REV 600HO. He can't come close to keeping up with me.

you should be able to take him on the short, but the lake is anothere storry. I do know the stock viper has alot more pull then the ho 600sdi on acceleration.

freind of mine has an 04 or 05 blair morgan 800ho.out of the hole he takes me(i can not get my 99 srx to hook up at all!!!)on a long run i will catch him and we are both even right up to 200 kph on the dream meter!!we have had the same results many times last winter. we are the same weight(200lbs) around the same hp(140ish) but his rev is about 50lbs lighter than my srx 700.not bad if i do say so myself. i think if i could get my sled to hook up so i could get the hole shot he would never catch me!!! btw, he is pissed with the results seeing how he paid almost $14,000.00 (canadian) for his sled ,and i paid $5000.00 two years ago. unless you have triple pipes on your viper, the 800 ho will smoke you every time.

I can give my buddies 800 H.O. rev a decent run as long as i can get a good holeshot on him, but my other buddy has one of the newer powertech revs, that thing will eat mine.

shouldnt even be close. The 800's have 140ish HP vs. your lil 120 viper.
+1 I coudn't even beat my buddies 600 sdi renagade when my Viper was stock, but my stock Apex smokes him all day long!!

CC,i am running a polaris track, not sure of the lug height but it looks like it's a .75 ". it also has 120 trail studs in the middle. suspension is front of rear shock max pre-load , limiter all the way out, and rear of rear pre-load is set to low.

ditto. The Attack lays the smack down on em' also.

I have run the 600HO 'gade and recently last years 800HO Renegade powertech. Both sleds are strong. The 600 ran dead even with me to 80-90mph and them I pulled by him on top on the lake. The 2006 800HO 'gade had maybe 300 miles on it last winter. I actually drove the 800HO for over 75 miles in the trails before hand. I thought the thing would smoke me on the lake. The strange thing is I held my own doing side by side runs. We never did a standing holeshot. On side by side runs ,I stayed neck and neck with him all the way into triple digits. I couldn't believe it. My Viper must be a good one.........

Well ill find out this weekend if i can find a good enough spot to open mine up , the ponds are still glare ice up here and im not studded . Good thing is he isnt either and hes only running a 1 inch track so im thinking on some good hard pack I can take him out of the hole . Ive got a bender clutch kit in my Viper and when that thing comes in its all about holding on . Im hoping to find a reasonably priced set of used pipes somewhere . If I do im pretty sure I wont have to worry about him catching me !
Ill keep you guys posted .

I would swap out for a 9830 1" with 144 studs down the middle. I can pull the 600sdi no problem in the low, I can pull up beside and walk away. but the sdi seems to be quick on the top, we havent raced top end yet or on a lake. but i wouldnt be suprised if the 600 woul dcatch up.

but you shouldnt have any problems down low, if you have good hook up.

You guys must be running up against some poor running Revs, cause I have NEVER beat a REV800 out on the lake with my STOCK VIPER with 144 studs. Thats the WHOLE reason I went with Pipes, ExpertX susp., and 9818. With that combo of increased POWER, WEIGHT TRANSFER, and TRACTION.....Wont have a problem with them Revs but I'll have to see what happens with those da** Kittys.

If it is a 2005 sdi 800 imo you don't have a chance. If they are done right they are faster than the 1000 and alot more reliable. Thats my opinion but let us know how you do. Also i raced a viper this weekend with my girlfriends sled 05 600ho sdi and he was complaining about the snow dust the whole time.
