Took down a renegade 1000, 3 out of 4 races with my Viper. Lost the first race but I just started the sled after it had been sitting for about 30 minutes, so it kinda laid down on me. The next 3 were all Viper!!! In all fairness the Doo rider weighs in about 300lbs and it was a short run, Id say 400-500 ft or so. He has a tall track and I have 96 studs that clear my ripsaw by about a 1/8", but the strip wasnt frozen, so I dont know how much my studs helped!
Still nice to say, " Spanked a Doo 1000"

You've taken one also? Sweet! What mods do you have to your Viper? Mine is close to stock. Turks clutch setup ( Helix and green secondary spring) and Cat rear skid.

Im not a big " CLUTCH TUNER" myself, thats why I went with Turks trail clutch setup. Not as complicated as you may think, and Turk, MrViper , Allen Ulmer and many others on TY will walk you right through it!akrievins said:Insane!!! taking out a 1000!!!

I have about a $140 bucks into it and about 1 hour. Its not a drag racing setup, but improves the performance across the board. Well worth the investment.

I never thought about cluthing till i bought my 2000 srx
turk and others setup work. they did a TON of testing and willingly passed this research on to us for free ( and of course our grattitude)
bottom line, swapping the correct helix, winding the secondary to the correct preload, and installing the right spring and rivits in the primary is all there is to it.
for my srx, I have a used 51/43 helix off an RX1, a factory yamaha WWW ( white, white, white) primary spring, and (3) 4.5 gram rivits where there were ligher stock ones.
it's That simple.
I went from being beat by three Rev800 HO's to beating all three buddies )

That's sweet! I blew the doors off an 800 Gade, twice, last year at Pontiac Lake Rec area. Needless to say, he was surprised. Not me though. He said, it's not fair, you got pipes. I said, but your the 800 while mine is still a 700, D'oh! What makes me smile, is that my sled is running way stronger this year with a tune up and new clutch settings.
