My fuel gauge reads full all the time. The first day we brought it home it was showing half a tank. I assumed it was accurate but never looked into the tank. The next day we took it for the first ride and filled it up which took about 20 litres(half a tank). Now it never moves from the full spot. I know the sled is good on gas (wife gets 16mpg average) but not that good.
With the sled running I can push down on the float and the gauge will start moving down towards empty. I can't see anything hanging up on the float. Can I bend the float arm or is the sending unit shot.

I was thinking a little bit about the fuel gauge. It needs power to register the fuel level. Could I not supply 12 volt to the wires with a battery without the sled running and pour in measured amounts of fuel to adjust the float height in the tank. I may be way out in left field up in the nose bleed section on this one but worth a shot.
