Going to puchase the wife a new sled this year and considering handing down her current 97 Vmax 500 to my oldest daughter (11). Can I (or should I even) consider governing this sled or any other option to maybe slow it down a little since she still is somewhat new to snowmobiling? Was considering getting another smaller motor sled but am thinking why if there may be something I can do with the one I have (and very much still like!)

Thanks!

my 7 year old is riding a 92 Phazer II LE
I cut a piece of PVC pipe and put it in the secondary to keep the clutch from opening up, then a took a piece of vacuum hose slit it and installed it on the throttle cable with a couple of zip ties by the carb. This gives him more throttle to get it going but keeps the top speed down, He can fishtail out of the corners but will only run @ 45 if he keeps it pinned for awhile. This is the second year for this set up and it seems to work well. ..SNAKEBIT..

Guess it depends on the temperment of your daughter.
If shes level headed I wouldn't worry too much about it. She'll find her comfort zone and it will most likely be slower than the limit you set. On the other hand if she's hell bent for leather, don't worry about the sled and start looking for convents.

just loosen out the trotle cable until theres a bunch of slack, carbs just wont open enough for her to go fast. dont let her see you do it or she might bring a ten mm wrench with her and open it up after shees out of site.(been there)

Bought my 4yr old GIRL a Cat 120....She's gone full bore on the 2nd day around the yard...My buddies say she's 30% boy and she already says "We don't like SKI DOO's Daddy!"

Wow, do I have problems heading my way....

Glad to see you continuing the legacy of snowmoboling...More parents should do so to keep our sport alive and the kids away from the boob tube all day..
