just installed 89a-10's with 4.5 inner and 2.4 outer rivits on my 99 srx 700. also have advant-edge 48/42 helix with yamaha green secondary spring. primary spring looks like it's all red-orange color.(with 2 shims) sled is engaging at 4200 and revs to 8000(maybe 8100)but will not go any further. how do i get it to the proper shift rpm (8400-8500)??btw-i am waiting on my w-w-w spring from dealer-this is what i will be running.
put some smaller rivets

inner-outer? or both? seems like i am not that far off my mark(500rpm) . any suggestions on what rivets to use and their placement?
well 1 gram is close to 100 rpm you have a total of 20.7 gram in rivet --- if u take 3 gram out of the total it will give u 300 rpm more... they are pretty heavy in midrange i hate those 89 a -10
you can try 3.6 in middle but i'm not 100% what it will do in top end with your helix ... i'm sure turk can give u a good advise about it

whats wrong with the 89a-10's?i am new to the clutching thing, but i can tell you this -they seem alot better for trail riding than the 8bu-00's and the straight 45 helix i just removed.my holeshot ,midrange and backshift is now where i wanted it.if i can get it to run 8500 i think it will be good.i will also be getting the 8dn-20's that everybody reccomends, but the 89a-10's came cheep so i said what the hell-i'll tri-em. i never had a chance to get it on a lake yet,so i dont know what it will be like on top end . so would i have to remove say---4 grams from each weight to gain 400rpm or 4 grams total off all three weights?thanks for you help!!

4 grams total my friend.Been thru all this clutching thing and with 8DN-20 weights. It is a lot of work and time to get things pretty close.Spent a season and a bit to finally get my SXR 600 just right. Now with my SRX want to tune her to where it should be,but I need to replace my tach first,it doesn't work,so I can't tell what's up for my rpm's.Keep slugging away and eventually you'll get it.Write every change you make down on paper so you can see what happens everytime.Good luck seca.
