has any one ever seen a belt flip over on a sled? yesterday we were out on the lake and a kid was saying his sled started acting funny so i took it for a quick ride and it felt like a burnt belt. so i looked under the hood and the belt was upside down. he said when her was at the drags he was holding the break and revving it before he took off. i was wondering is it possible for the primary to twist and stretch enough for it to flip over if it? he said he hasnt touched it since i changed the heads and clutched it. but putin a belt on upside down is something i know i wouldnt have done.

yes i have seen that before, on a vmax 600. Kept flipping the belt upside down. Replaced all of the bushings in both clutches, as well as reset the alignment and center to center, which were both off. Not sure which was causing the belt to flip over because i made several changes at one time but it cured the problem. I would check the alignment and center to center first, then start replacing worn parts. I dont know if its possible or not that holding the brake and hitting the throttle would cause the belt to flip over, but its possible and it sure as hell isn't good for it. What the heck is the point in doing that, besides to put a hell of a lot of heat into your clutches and wear the belt and sheaves? Doesn't make much sense to me.

i know the kid is only like 14 its his first sled. i was thinkin it could have happned cause the secondary was staionary and teh primary was shifting it could ahev caused the belt to turn to like a 90* and when he let braek off the belt just twisted enough for it to flip. there was alot of rubber on the primary. its a 04 pro-X 440 race sled.
