A few of us went out riding yesterday and it started off as a pretty damned good day of riding. We left out from a friends house west of Gaylord....Black Forest area. Cruised around checking out a few of the hill climbs and bowls in the area. The first bowl we came to there was one of those Ski-Doo Elites out there climbing hills.....I was impressed, he could climb just about anything. We then had to hit a fuel stop after only 35 miles!!!! One of the guys had just picked up a 04' MXZX 800 open mod race sled and even with a 10.5 gallon tank he ran out of gas. After filling up we went over to MT. Fredrick and hung out for an hour or so jumping the hill......Thats were things started to go wrong. After several good jumps I blew the rear shock out of my Viper S. I kicked back watching the others jump the hill...there was about 25-30 people out there but only 8-10 were catching air off the hill (of which I am told I was catching the biggest air!!!!!). One of the guys we were with started having problems with his F7....kept losing spark on one cylinder. We decided to head back to his place to park my crippled sled and take a look at his. On the way back the snow really started coming down...there was only maybe 50-60' of visibility at times. The 2 guys leading our group of 5 turned off to the left and the 3rd guy in line missed the turn so I looked back to see if the last guy in line seen the turn....he APPEARED to have slowed down to wait with the leaders. I caught up to and passed the guy who missed the turn and waved him off to stop...I looked back several times to make sure he was stopping. He was. I looked back to make a U turn and as soon as I was perpindicular to the road the last rider in the pack was right there.....whacked me broad side at about 30-35 MPH. We were both allright...no injuries. Damage to my sled was a bent running board/heat exchanger, Cracked hood, bent the belt guard and the rear attaching point for it. His sled (the MXZX open mod) didn't fair so well....appears that the bulkhead is bent as well as most of the body work is trashed. I left my sled over at my buddies house....after I pick it up I'll post up some picks of the damage.

That's gotta suck, man...hope all were well...we run with a group about 5-6 sometimes 8 and we all have communicators...saved my life more than once and others as well...you can always inform the group of what is on the trail...such as washouts, man there must be two washouts for every mile of trail this year...hope you get her together before the next snowfall...good luck & keep safe...

Man that sucks! 35mph does not sound like alot but it's pretty damn fast! You are lucky you did not get a trip the hospital! will you rebuild it?

The guy who missed the corner seen the whole thing happen....he thought for sure I was going to have a broken leg. I rolled with the sled and ended up in the ditch.

I'm going to rebuild it. It doesn't seem to have any structural damage but I need get a closer look. It rode fine the rest of the way back.

Ouch, sorry about that man. Glad you are ok, sorry about the sled. Hope you find that it is mostly cosmetic damage, and that thing bulkhead and tunnel are not bent.

Sorry about your sled, glad no one was really hurt. It could have turned out bad. I hope you get sled running soon.

The sled will be up and running this week as long as the damage is mostly cosmetic. ViperKing, How much are you asking for them shipped to 49735? The heat exchanger on the sled is not leaking just bent. I'm thinking the sled might wait until spring for a complete tear down to replace the tunnel and heat exchanger, as long as its still ridable for the rest of the season.

Thats got to suck. I myself fly a couple of jumps last night, land on tail made my tunnel ext. look like a crushed soda can. glad you're alright.

how's $75 shipped for both of them if you don't agree with price just make an offer i guess and i will consider. i may have a tunnel also if you need it but i have someone else interested but i have to finish tearing it down so i can get a shipping price for tyhem and see if they want it then i will know if it's available

I got in the habit of about 15 minutes or less depending on conditions I wipe off my tail light lense. I have seen more the once someones tail light not visible because of snow build up. I thought of getting a brake light that mounts on the back of my helmet for extra safety.

sorry to hear that, but glad you are ok and glad you are rebuilding it! always hate seeing people part out nice sleds! what will we have for cool vintage sleds if everyone parts them out???

Oooooowwwww the pain!!!! It finally settled into my old body. I must have been whacked on my left hip and got a bit of whiplash because 2 days later and I can hardly walk or turn my head. Nothing that wont heal but its enough to remind me I'm not 18 anymore!!!!

The Rev is now sitting in my garage so I snapped off a couple of pics. Its hard to see but the entire right side suspension is pushed back 4-5".
Also there are a few pics from our ride. I kind of feel like Mike Labowski (the little green guy from the movie Monsters Inc.), Everytime one of my friends tries to get a picture of me its just a snowflap.....I guess I'm going to fast for the average photographer to get a pic. LOL

I might go get the Viper this afternoon and post up some pics.

Here's my crunched up Viper. The running board has been repaired good enough for the rest of the riding season...I'll tear it down in the spring.

The REV looks bad but It might be repairable. The bulkhead is defintly buckled but if the frame/engine cradle didn't get bent than it can be put back together. I'll tear it down as soon as I get a chance to see what needs to be done and then he can decide if he wants to fix it or part it out.
