What is done when trail porting. I just tunnel ported the base and the intake ports and boost port on the bottom of the jug which mates to the case also matched the intake ports to the case. And I was just wondering if that was considered a trail port. Also does anyone have any idea what kind of gains I can expext if any. I can also post pictures of the work I have done if anyone needs to see to answer my question's.
I had to take the engine apart to clean the crank bearings due to going threw the ice with my sled, so while i had the engine apart I said what the heck. I'd rather try and fail then not try at all.

I heard about someone going threw the ice on whitwater with an SRX....was that you.
Sure was. Getting it out was the easy part. Drying it out properly is the hard part.

that's part of it. secondary exhaust ports also get taken out some usually. Really it depends on the person doing the porting. Anytime something is sold in "stages" like that, what is entailed in 1 stage vs another will vary from guy to guy. I'll see if I can't draw up a diagram to get you started. For a start tho you can take a peak at the stock port specs in the tech section. Making sure that your specs are up to stock, or if you're a 98-99 up to the 00+ standards, viper standards even.
Like I said above tho, ALOT can be done to bring the secondary exhaust ports out, and 'cause of how high they are in the cylinder they give you alot of time/area for the actual area increase. (since they are higher in the cylinder, they're open longer). I'll try to just edit the dimensions on that stock blueprint. Another thing with it is that you're only as good as your tools, a good porting tool goes a long long ways. I find one with a foot pedal indispensible, it's very handy to be able to vary your speed without stopping the cut. Also make sure you've got good light.

The triple exh ports are always lower then the main exh port.
