does 2000 srx have rev limiter?

I added NOs to my srx. i pull 9000 on top end without nos, and 9200 on teh gas so I need to get it down, but on nos I was studdering ( it pulled, but had a studdering, ratt- ta taat taat taat taat at 9100-9200)

I am hoping i am bumping a rev limiter

tell me this is so,

then there is hope for this nitrous to really do something if i can get back into the power band
:nos:

does that mean that the stock box does have rev limiter, or jsut falls flat at thsoe rpms

if teh powerband is not there, then I wil try to clutch to get back to teh powerband

I really just want a reason why my NOS didn't pull the way I hoped it would :nos:

the cdi does retard after something lie 8700 or 9000 rpm i think i was told.if you look into getting a race box the 2000 are different from 2001 & 2002

I dont know if I would call it a rev limiter or not, not a electroics wizard as to know what capacitors and such are in one but it retards the timing so much at that kind of rpm level it would just bangs and studders, dont run over 8500-8600rpm with a stock srx box, if you want to get up into the higher rpm range go with a viper box, it doesnt begin to pull alot of timing out till much later in the rpm range.
Be neat if some were a electronics wizard and could disect a cdi box and report whats in there besides smoke....LOL, its the ol smoke theory, once you see the smoke come out of it, it doesnt work anymore!!! LOL!!

just have to swap the harness is all.

hauck had boxs for the 2000 and 2001, no one made them for the 02 with dcs. possibly you could find a used one.

Thanks for the info

it makes sense that the ignition is falling off. I can really feel a diffrerence at 8500 and 9000 for power. Thought this was the power curve of the airflow, but maybe the ignition is "forcing" this powercurve

maybe enough timing retard that the NOs is blowing out the plugs

how much are the hauck boxes?

either way. my r's are high off the Nos too so I will do some clutchwork

where can you buy the Hauck weighted bolts to replace the rivits in the primary? directly from them or retailers?

thanks

yea the stock srx boxes definately fall off in a big hurry if you rev them over 8700 rpm or so, and anything above 9000 or so will cause a stutter if you are attempting to load the engine hard. You wont notice the stutter in most cases doing stand testing because there isn't much load on the engine. Get a simons or hauck race box and you can rev 10 grand without a problem. And dont worry about the srx engine holding up to those kinds of rpms. Keep good rings in them and they will hold.

Hey Bruce.... :o)

I want to clutch for off nitrous,

since, as you know, you get a good 6 sprays and you are about out :o| :nos:

my buddy thought I should strap on my dual scuba tanks to my back :ORC

but this discussions assures me that the electrical system is holding back the potential of the nitrous, and not nitrous jetting issues causing the studder.

on one run, on hardpack, It pulled hard, and that was the run that I beat my buddies APEX !!!!! (the whole purpose of the nitrous install.) but the other 5 trials on nitrous were 9200 screamers with studders and it made me very nervous.

So. I will add some weight and get it to 8400 max off the gas
then nitrous can spin in up some. but nothing like the 9200 issue I currently have.

I will buy the Hauck weighted bolts to replace the tip rivits, unless CB has something similar ;)!

what does a simons box cost, the Hauck box was $500
