Can you affect how dirty your powervalves get by how you ride? It seems to me like you could "burn the gunk" out of it with a good long lake run? Yes? No? would it help? Just a thought...

YEah...I'm thinking the higher end runs would keep the carbon build up from getting on the valve more so because they are open...Unsure if it'll burn or flake the gunk off...but obviously a longer idle and slower runs and of course oil used could also add more gunk onto them...Let it warm up good in the mornin...and then ride it like you stole it..hehehehe...well..umm...trail friendly of course...

I definelty would say it is the oil used....I go on high speed, high milage runs all the time up in quebec....powervalves are horrible if I run out of Amsoil even after 500 miles

ive done a HUNDRED posts on this subject...here goes another one....Carbon is a byproduct of combustion....NORMAL in an internal combustion engine...OILS have different additive packages in them to AID WITH cleaning "thus the word detergents".. OILS that produce a LOT OF SMOKE are ACTUALLY VERY GOOD for your detergent action,,,but VERY BAD for SALES!!!! Oil companies PRIDE THEMSELVES on selling LOW SMOKE or NO SMOKE oils!!!! people NATURALLY equate that an oil that does NOT SMOKE is actually better for their machine!!! HOW FAR FROM THE TRUTH.. Oil has a BTU rating and so does gasoline!!! Considering an INTERNAL COMBUSTION engine is NOTHING more than an elaborate HEAT PUMP,,, Oil that burns HOTTER, will SmOKE LESS!!! Oil that burns HOTTER will also burn up the detergents easier, and the powervalves will STAY CRISPY full of carbon.. THE AIR FUEL ratio has a TREMENDOUS EFFECT on the internal combustion temperature and ALSO has a LOT TO DO with the amount of carbon and also the hardness of the carbon!!! the CYLINDER temperatures have MOST to do with the carbon deposits STAYING on the valves, or blowing past the valves!!! an OVER rich and OVER OILED motor will have SOFTER CARBON on the valves moreso than a properly tuned motor will.. IT IS VERY HARD to properly tune a snowmobile motor because of the EVERCHANGING ambient Temperature, humidity and relative air density!!!! so,,, YAMAHA MOTOR COMPANY shoots to tune their motors (jetting) for the LOWEST AMBIENT TEMPERATURES!!!! Therefore,, when a BRAND NEW sled RUNS when its 20 or30 BELOW ZERO,,, IT IS PROTECTED!!!!! LEAN CONDITIONS burn up 2 stroke motors!!!! the COLDER it is outside,,, the leaner the motor runs because of the DENSER (is DENSER a word???) air charge of OXYGEN (more oxygen molecules (PPM) when airs COLD!!!!) LETTING a sled warm up for 10 minutes in the morning WILL SOFTEN up your carbon deposits and give the detergents in the oil a chance to work!!!! BLOWING it out RIGHT AFTER you warm it up will also help BLOW OUT the softened carbon deposits.. PULLING the CHOKE to kill your motor willalso SOFTEN UP the carbon deposits overnight and usually keep them softened ALL NIGHT!!!! CHEMICALS like TECRON (made by CHEVRON) also bottled for YAMAHA called RING FREE (tecron in a YAMAHA bottle) will help in keeping your powervalves clean!!!! products like SEA FOAM will also do the same thing as TECRON (or ringfree).. Remember,, MOST CONVENTIONAL oils like YAMALUBE or BOMBARDIER or POLARIS or ARCTIC CAT oil come from THE SAME VAT FROM THE SAME REFINERY ( CITGO).. so CHANGING OILS will USUALLY.... NOT DO A THING!!!..... because,,,, its ALL THE SAME STUFF!!!! If you want to use an oil that will keep your valves CLEANER than CITGO oil will,,, try a SYNTHETIC oil like KLOTZ or ROYAL PURPLE or AMSOIL!!!!! REMEMBER,,,, CITIES SERVICES OIL COMPANY (CITGO) makes ONE 2 stroke oil and puts it in 20 different bottles!!!!! (including BLACK YAMALUBE BOTTLES!!!)

you can buy 3 bottles of tecron for the same price as 2 bottles of sea foam or 1 bottle of YAMALUBE RING FREE!!! WITH THE SAME RESULTS!!!!! TECRON is pretty hard to find unless you have a friend that works at an auto parts store,,,, seafoam is more readily available and YAMAJUNK (ring free) is available at YAMAHA dealers EXCLUSIVELY!!!!! SYNTHETIC OILS WORK BETTER THAN conventionals!!!!! So,,a bottle of KLOTZ and a botle of TECRON will produce WONDERFUL RESULTS!!!! Gary Oles nosboy (thats what I use)
